The Artist
Paresh Nrshinga is a London-based contemporary abstract artist whose paintings explore the relationship between colour, movement and emotion. Born in Kenya and raised in the UK from the age of three, he studied Fine Art at De Montfort University before developing a professional practice spanning more than two decades.
His work is rooted in instinct and movement. Layers of fluid paint, expressive brushwork, spontaneous marks and shifting fields of colour create compositions that sit somewhere between abstraction, memory and landscape. Rather than describing a particular place or moment, the paintings invite a personal response and allow each viewer to form their own associations with the work.
Scale is an important part of Nrshinga’s practice. Many paintings are created to hold their own within substantial contemporary interiors, bringing energy, atmosphere and presence to a space without becoming purely decorative.
The Practice
Nrshinga’s visual language is built through gesture, fluidity and controlled spontaneity. Paint is poured, brushed, layered and allowed to move, creating unexpected relationships between colour, line and space.
His influences range from the physical energy of Abstract Expressionism to the emotional intensity of colour field painting. At the same time, his long-standing study of Sanskrit texts has shaped an interest in stillness, impermanence and the idea that meaning can emerge through experience rather than explanation.
The result is work that can feel immediate from a distance and increasingly complex at close range. Each painting is intended to reward repeated looking and to change subtly as the light, surroundings and viewer change.
